After Effects is known for its amazing visual effects, but it can also create audio spectrum with audio! This one effect alone can produce super cool visual accompaniment to all your audio tracks.
In this article we’ll take a look at how to create an Audio Spectrum inside After Effects, using only the built-in tools and effects. I’ll show you how to create a audio spectrum effect to the path, and then customize the color and style of the animation.
Let's start doing this amazing work.
After that create a new composition by choosing preset HDTV 1080 29.97 naming composition as audio spectrum and duration of your audio length and keep everything default and click OK.
Now we will import audio file and create two solid layers above that audio layer in timeline.
For that go to effects & presets and search by typing audio.
You will find two effects named Audio Spectrum and Audio Wavelength.
Select audio spectrum and drag to the top solid layer.
Or go to Effects > Generate > Audio Spectrum.
If you can't find effects & presets panel then you can find by enabling from windows tab.
After applying audio spectrum effect to top solid layer you will find these options in effect control panel. We’ll change some settings.
Now we will choose audio layer by choosing our audio file layer that is on bottom of timeline.
Start Point: Keep as it is.
End Point: Keep as it is.
End Frequency: change as per your taste, I used 200
Frequency bands: change as per your taste, I used 64
Maximum Height: change as per your taste, I used 480
Audio Duration and Audio Offset: Keep as it is.
Thickness: change as per your taste, I used 5
Softness: change that to 50%.
Change Inside and Outside color as you wish.
If you change Hue Interpolation angle, spectrum color will be changed into gradient color.
Keep Dynamic Hue Phase and Color Symmetry as it is.
Click on the dropdown menu besides to Display Options and Choose Digital.
Click on the dropdown menu besides Side Options and Choose Side A & B
Now, its done...

Hit the Spacebar to play your animation. Looks cool, right?
If you want this type of spectrum, then choose Analog lines in Display Options.
